Travis Mash

Director of RISE Sports Science

Travis Mash is the Director of RISE Sports Performance at RISE Indoor Sports, bringing 28 years of elite strength and conditioning experience to athlete development across all performance levels.

A former world record-holding powerlifter and nationally ranked Olympic weightlifter, Travis has built a career around high-performance training, advanced sports science, and competitive excellence. He has worked with professional and elite athletes across multiple sports, including NFL fullback Tommy Bohanon, UFC fighter Brad Katona, and world-ranked pickleball athlete Ben Johns.

In his role as Director of Sports Performance, Travis leads RISE Indoor Sports’ strength and performance training programs, focusing on building athletes who are stronger, faster, more durable, and better prepared for competition demands.
Travis is also the Head Coach of Team Mash Elite, where he has coached more than 50 Team USA athletes, and previously helped lead Lenoir-Rhyne University’s weightlifting and powerlifting programs to a National Championship. As a Senior International Weightlifting Coach for USA Weightlifting and published author, Travis blends practical coaching experience with cutting-edge sports science research.

He holds a Master’s degree in Exercise Science and is pursuing a PhD in Human Performance. His coaching philosophy centers on creating individualized performance systems that integrate training, recovery, nutrition, and sleep to maximize long-term athletic potential.

Outside of coaching, Travis enjoys family adventures with his wife, Emily Drew, and their three children, Rock (10), Behr (8), and Magnolia (6).

Matt Wininger

Strength and Speed Coach

Matt Wininger is a dedicated trainer at NC RISE Performance Academy, specializing in Olympic weightlifting and athletic performance. He holds a B.S. in Exercise Science from Lenoir-Rhyne University and has extensive experience, including leading the Lenoir-Rhyne Weightlifting Team to two Men’s University Team Championships. Matt’s athletic achievements include 1st place at the 2017 USAW American Open and a silver medal at the 2022 Universities.

Matt’s coaching philosophy focuses on “quality over quantity,” emphasizing proper technique for injury prevention and long-term success. He has coached athletes of all levels, including kids and women over 50, helping them achieve their fitness goals.

Originally from Atlanta, GA, Matt moved to Davie County at age 3 and attended Davie County Schools before pursuing his degree at Lenoir-Rhyne University. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in exercise science at the UNC Greensboro. Matt is passionate about lifting heavy weights and remains committed to helping athletes reach their full potential both physically and mentally at NC RISE.

Personal Training

Personal Training is a structured, goal-driven approach to improving strength, conditioning, and overall performance through individualized programming and expert coaching. Designed around each client’s specific needs, it focuses on building proper movement mechanics, increasing muscular strength, enhancing endurance, and promoting long-term health. Personal Training is ideal for individuals seeking accountability, efficient progress, and a customized plan that builds confidence, resilience, and sustainable results.

Allegacy Cardio Fitness Center and RSP Open Gym memberships are included in all personal training packages.

John Lucchesi

Personal Training

John Lucchesi is an experienced trainer at NC RISE Performance Academy with 9 years of coaching expertise. He holds a degree in Exercise Science from East Tennessee State University, where he also played Division I soccer and competed on semi-professional teams in the USL2, earning captain roles on every team he’s played for. John has worked with athletes from the NFL, NBA, MLB, and USL1.

John’s coaching philosophy is centered around the idea that the effort put into training directly impacts results. He is passionate about helping athletes succeed on and off the field, focusing on hard work, dedication, and discipline.

Originally from Johnson City, Tennessee, John is driven by his family values and a commitment to helping athletes achieve their goals in sports and life.

EZe Onwurah

Personal Trainer

With a foundation built on discipline, resilience, and performance, EZe Onwurah serves as a Personal Trainer at RISE Sports Performance, bringing unmatched experience and purpose to every session.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, EZe served six years on active duty and was honorably discharged after deploying to the Middle East. There, mental toughness, physical readiness, and leadership under pressure were not optional — they were daily requirements. That same commitment now defines his approach to training and coaching.

In addition to his military service, EZe is an IFBB Pro League professional bodybuilder, competing at the highest level of physique and performance. Years of elite training, competition preparation, and real-world application have shaped a results-driven philosophy rooted in smart programming, consistency, and accountability.

With extensive hands-on personal training experience, EZe has worked with individuals from all backgrounds — from beginners building confidence to athletes striving for elite performance. Every program he designs is customized, intentional, and focused on building strength, durability, and long-term success.

It is widely used in athletic training to develop full-body strength, coordination, and athletic performance. Cameron "Tank" Lunsford

Head of Powerlifting

Cameron “Tank” Lunsford brings elite-level strength expertise, competitive experience, and a relentless performance mindset to RISE Sports Performance.

A champion powerlifter and multi-time Team USA athlete, Tank has built his career around mastering strength development at the highest levels of competition. His time competing on national and international stages has shaped not only his technical understanding of the sport, but also his disciplined, results-driven coaching philosophy. Tank holds a degree in Sports Management from Lenoir-Rhyne University, where he combined academic study with hands-on strength training and competitive development. His approach to coaching blends science-backed programming with the lived experience of an athlete who has pushed his own limits repeatedly under pressure.

At the core of Tank’s training philosophy is what he calls the “Tank Mindset.” This philosophy centers on:

Tank believes true strength is built through structure, accountability, and mastery of fundamentals. His programs are intentionally designed to develop not only maximal strength, but durability, confidence, and long-term performance capacity.

As Head of Powerlifting at RISE Sports Performance, Tank leads structured classes Monday through Friday at 6 PM. Whether working with competitive lifters preparing for the platform or individuals seeking to build foundational strength, he delivers high-intensity coaching with meticulous attention to technique and safety.

Tank’s track record speaks for itself — proven competitive success, national-level representation, and a growing roster of athletes developing strength the right way.
